After raising two children as a divorced single parent in Japan, Yoko Olson embarked on a new chapter in 1995 by moving to New York City to pursue her passion for Fine Arts and studied Antique Restoration at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), NY State University. She earned her BFA degree in 2000.

In 1998, Yoko's painting "Sotheby's Restoration" was featured at Sotheby’s, where she showcased her skills as an antique restorer. The same year, her significant piece titled "F.D.N.Y." found a permanent home at "The New York City Fire Museum" on Spring Street in NYC, where visitors can still see her work today.

In 2006, she co-founded the antique restoration business YKO Studio, LLC with her husband Jon Olson and continued to excel in her career as a professional artist.

Since 2010, Yoko has been dedicated to sharing her expertise in "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" and is currently working on publishing books to impart her knowledge and techniques. A passionate advocate for helping others, Yoko thrives as an artist, antique restorer, and now, as a book author.

Yoko’s first children’s book, "Nana Goes to Manhattan!", was inspired by her own adventures. "When I was young, my father told me, 'Leave the country and see the world,' and that’s exactly what Yoko did! She made the story about Nana. Yoko believes in dreaming big and going after what you want. She says, 'I hope kids and their parents will enjoy reading about Nana’s exciting journey together.' Yoko is thrilled to continue writing fun and adventurous stories for everyone to enjoy.

She has also published "Let’s Play Canasta," a rule book perfect for playing with friends or senior groups, which she enjoys using to help people come together and enjoy this classic card game. Yoko never stops challenging herself with new ventures.
