The essays of Elia first series 1823
The first series of "Essays of Elia" was published in 1823, with the second volume, "Last Essays of Elia," issued in 1833. The essays were first published in The London Magazine in 1820 and continued to 1825. Charles Lamb's essays have been very popular and have been printed in many subsequent editions throughout the nineteenth century. The personal and conversational tone of the essays has charmed many readers, establishing Lamb as one of the most delightful of English essayists.
