Very well known Printing Business in Chicago, Illinois. These plates are part of that craft. These plates a depiction of the Stained Glass Windows that were in Reuben H Donnelley's office. The 3 plates are numbered 149 of only 200. Heavy bone China with Gold trimmed rim and centers. 10 1/8" diameter.
There are no losses at the rims.No chips or cracks. Following Richard Robert Donnelley's death in 1899, his son Thomas E. Donnelley (1867-1955) assumed the presidency of the family company. His talent as a salesman, commitment to quality craftsmanship, and vision led the company into the new century.
Reuben H. (1864-1929), the oldest son, took over the company's directory publishing subsidiary, which was incorporated in 1917 as the Reuben H. Donnelley Corporation, an independent publisher of telephone directories. Reuben Hamilton, was born in 1864. This Company/Family went on to do much more in the printing field. Reading the history from the Chicago History Archives of this family is very interesting.
